Meet Richa, founder of
Gurgaon's woman-led tattoo studio
Richa, a psychology and business management graduate with 20 years of operations experience and a deep love for art, is why this studio runs the way it does.
Richa founded Rebel in 2023, one of very few woman-led tattoo and piercing studios in Gurgaon. Before Rebel she spent a decade leading HR teams, then moved into beauty and wellness, heading operations for luxury spa and salon chains in Gurgaon's five and seven star hotels, where hygiene, training, and consistency were non negotiable.
She saw the gap. Tattoo and piercing studios lacked operational rigour. Strong on craft, weak on systems. Rebel reversed that. Hygiene, sterilisation, and customer experience came first, backed by internationally trained artists. The studio launched in 2023.
Since 2023, Rebel has served 2,500+ clients, holds a 5.0 rating across 229 Google reviews, and has recorded zero infections. It operates from Sector 67, M3M Urbana. She has launched a premium implant-grade titanium piercing jewellery line sourced from the US and Sweden. Next is Rebel Academy, built to train serious tattoo professionals.
"I built Rebel for the version of myself who wanted a tattoo and didn't know who to trust."

How much does a tattoo cost at Rebel?
Tattoo cost depends on size, placement, and detail. We share an exact quote after a free consultation, once we've understood the piece you're going for. Full pricing, including what a small tattoo starts at, is on our tattoo price guide. Every quote includes the full session plan and free touch-ups, with no hidden charges.
How long does a tattoo session take?
It depends on the size and complexity of the design. Sessions can run anywhere from an hour to several appointments. We'll confirm exact session length during your free consultation, once we've understood the piece you're going for.
Do you have a female tattoo artist?
Yes. We have both male and female artists on our team. If you'd prefer a female artist, just mention it when you WhatsApp us and we'll book a slot with her based on her availability.
Can Rebel cover up an old tattoo?
Yes, cover-ups are one of our specialities. Our artists design custom work to transform an old or unwanted tattoo, and we'll tell you honestly at your free consultation what's possible with your existing piece. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a quick assessment.
Is Rebel good for a first tattoo?
Absolutely. Many of our clients are getting their first tattoo, and the studio was built exactly for them. We take the time to talk you through hygiene, the design and the whole process, so you feel in safe hands from your very first message.
What happens at the free consultation?
It's a free, no-pressure chat, in the studio or on WhatsApp. We understand the piece you want, match you with the right artist, refine the design and placement, and confirm your session. No obligation until you're happy.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Appointments are preferred, so your artist has your time set aside, but walk-ins are welcome during studio hours. Message us on WhatsApp first and we can often fit you in the same day if there's a slot.
What if the tattoo I want is over my budget?
Bring your budget to the consultation and say it plainly. We work it in two steps. First the size: the artist shows you the range down to the smallest size the piece can hold while staying clear, which is a technical limit and not a tactic. Then the design: we reduce elements together, keeping what carries the meaning and removing decoration, with every change approved as you watch it drawn. We will not shrink a design below the size where it stays clear, or pack in detail it cannot hold, just to close a booking.
Can you tattoo a design I generated with AI?
We redraw it. AI fits any amount of detail into any size because it is drawing pixels, and skin is not pixels. Ink spreads as a tattoo ages, so detail packed too tight closes up and is lost. Every element is kept and rebuilt so the piece still reads in ten years.
Do I pay for the tattoo design?
If you bring an idea or a reference image and it just needs adapting, sized for the spot, adjusted for your skin tone, shaped to sit right on the body, that is regular work. The artist does it in front of you in minutes and there is no charge for it. Some pieces need designing from scratch, usually the larger ones, where all we have is an idea or a reference that will not carry at the size you want. The artist has to draw the whole concept, and that takes real time and patience. The artist tells you at the consultation, before any drawing starts. Once the cost of the tattoo is agreed, a portion of it is taken up front as an advance for the design work. It is not an extra charge: it comes out of the total you have already agreed rather than on top of it, and the balance is due as the tattoo is done. That advance is not refunded, but you are not left with nothing: the design is yours. If you decide not to go ahead with us, you take it with you, because you paid for the artist's time and the drawing is what that time produced.
Why does a large tattoo take several sessions?
Most people reach their limit for sitting under the needle at around three to four hours. A sleeve or a back piece is split across days because that is how the body handles it, not to stretch the bill. Each visit is planned with you, so you know what to expect before you sit down.
Why did the artist suggest a bigger size than I asked for?
Every design has a smallest workable size, and the more detail it carries the bigger that size is. All ink spreads over the years: roughly, a 1mm line today is a 1.5mm line in ten years. On a well-sized piece nobody notices, but on a crowded one neighbouring lines merge and the detail between them is lost permanently. When the artist asks for a little more room, that is what they are protecting.
Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Less than most people expect, and not in the way they expect. Most of it feels like a constant scratching rather than a sharp pain, and it settles as you go. The first few minutes are the worst of it, then your body adjusts. A good deal of it is mental, and people who have braced for something unbearable usually find they over-prepared. Placement matters more than anything else: ribs, spine, hands and feet are sharper than an outer arm or a thigh. If you have had waxing done, most placements sit in about that range. The artists work in stages, take breaks whenever you need one, and will tell you honestly what to expect for the spot you have chosen.
How do I look after a new tattoo?
You get detailed aftercare guidance before you leave, and the studio stays reachable on WhatsApp afterwards if anything looks or feels off. Zero infections across 2,500+ clients since 2023 comes from clients following it.
Do I have to pay an advance to book?
For a booked session, yes, and it is not refundable. The slot is held for you and nothing else is taken for it, so if you do not turn up the artist's day has already gone. When you do come in, the advance comes off your total: it is part of the cost of the tattoo, not an extra. Whether it is for a design or for a session, an advance always comes out of the agreed cost of your tattoo, so you are never paying twice. Things come up, so we will reschedule you once. If a second appointment is missed, the advance is forfeited and the studio may decline further bookings. That is the policy. In practice, if something genuinely unavoidable has happened, talk to us, because we would rather find a way than lose you over one bad week.
